Coordinating Usability Testing in Free Software
*Excerpt
Freedom 4: The freedom to use the program effectively, efficiently and satisfactory.
For a software to truly be free, people need to be able to easily use it without help. A primer to usability testing in a distributed and independent development environment.
Description
Presenting a collection of usability methods applicable especially in free & open source software projects. No matter if you are a developer, usability person or just enthusiastic about making software easier to use, these methods should help you get going.
I will also share my experience from the projects I’m involved in, such as ownCloud and Unhosted.
Speaking experience
This was not given as a talk before but wrote my thesis about it and frequently give it to people to learn.
Previously I presented at the CCC Berlin lightning talks, of which the video is at http://unhosted.org (the "next" is mandatory), at RMLL Strasbourg, Students for Free Culture New York, International PHP Conference and loads of Barcamps and user groups in Europe and Israel.
