Description
Informal meetup for MongoDB users. MongoDB (from “humongous”) is an open-source document database, and the leading NoSQL database. MongoDB aims to be feature-rich, general purpose, and scalable.
Come to the BoF to ask questions and share ideas with two programmers from 10gen:
- A. Jesse Jiryu Davis contributes to the MongoDB Python driver and created Motor, an asynchronous MongoDB Python driver for Tornado.
- Emily Stolfo contributes to the MongoDB Ruby driver and is adjunct faculty at Columbia University.
Speaking experience
A. Jesse Jiryu Davis:
I've spoken at several Python Meetups, at the Chicago WindyCityDB conference, at the PyGotham conference, and at two MongoDB conferences. My talks have covered three topics: MongoDB; asynchronous frameworks; and Motor, my asynchronous driver for Tornado and MongoDB. Four times, I've taught 2-day-long training sessions on programming with MongoDB.
Here's a video of me explaining how Motor works:

Emily Stolfo:
Teaching: I'm an adjunct faculty at Columbia University and teach Ruby on Rails. I'm going to teach a Ruby on Rails workshop at General Assembly in NYC in a few weeks.
I've taught 2 and 3-day-long training sessions on programming with MongoDB. I've also spoken at 10gen internal meetings and conduct professional consulting engagements with open source customers.
Presentations: I frequently present at MongoDB conferences (audiences range from 100 - 200 people) and teach workshops (with 20 participants) on schema design (recently in Colorado, Australia, and India)
I'm presenting at RailsConf this year: http://www.railsconf.com/2013/talks#talk-47
I'm also presenting at GoRuCo: http://goruco.com/speakers/2013/stolfo-emily/
